Cafe at the Park's Loco Moco

Loco MocoLoco Moco is one of those dishes that everyone likes. The concept is pretty simple: Put some rice on a plate, top it with a grilled hamburger, put a fried egg on top of the burger and smother the whole thing in gravy. You can throw in different spices for the burger, use a different type of rice or gravy, but the basic model always remains the same. Click HERE for a recipe.

Today was a rainy day in Saipan, so a cholesteral filled Loco Moco from Cafe at the Park ($8.95) was exactly what I needed.

I visit Cafe at the Park more than I care to admit. They have free wireless, so I've spent many an hour sitting on the front porch downing beers and googling myself. We also hold a lot of the Beautify CNMI! meetings there. I usually get the Philly Cheesesteak or the Fried Shrimp Appetizer. Last week I had the Smoked Salmon Pizza. I was expecting this, but got more of a traditional cheese pizza with salmon toppings (I should probably have taken a picture of it, whatev, it was good.)

The only thing from today I was unhappy with was my coffee. I asked for black coffee and the server replied, "an Americano?" I didn't want an Americano, I just wanted black coffee from the pot, so I told her, "No, just black coffee, please."

Then I watched her make me an Americano. Grrrrr.....

I still drank it. I think she was new.
